What is nirvana? - Bottomless sky

A message was posted on the web board from a reader saying:

"A bottomless sky - I had attained the state of mind which exactly feels like this: a bottomless sky. The feeling was super fresh and so cooled down. I was so surprised that I was almost scared. I was even able to read other people's mind. I'm not interested in Kundalini and things like that at all, but I just miss that state of mind. Many other websites explain about the techniques but I think the most important thing is the heart."

Nirvana, or enlightenment or spiritual awakening, is the final destination of Buddhism, yoga and meditations. So I would like to comment on this topic.

I myself have experienced this kind of the state of mind - A bottomless sky.

And it is found out scientifically why this kind of thing happens.

It is related with hormones produced in the brain. For example, when an ascetic practices hard, or when alpha brain waves are released with yoga or meditation, a hormone called Beta-endorphin will be produced in the brain. Endorphin means "endogenous morphine," endogenous meaning created within the body. The effect of Beta-endorphin is quite similar to that of morphine. This means that the effects of yoga or meditation or those kind of practices are quite similar to that of drugs.

As you can imagine, when those kind of brain chemicals are released in your brain, you will get high and happy and something more with illusions and delusions.

Furthermore, this Beta-endorphin restrains GABA (Gamma-Amino Butyric Acid). The less GABA is activated, the more Dopamine is produced in the brain. Dopamine gives you an incredible pleasure, but at the same time, too much Dopamine will lead you to the mental disorder such as hallucinations or schizophrenia. Also, when too much Dopamine is produced, Serotonin will be increased in order to stop producing Dopamine. Serotonin gives you strong mental stability and calmness. That is the bottomless sky state of mind, which you feel super fresh and so cooled down and as if you can read other people's mind.

Now you see the mechanism. The bottomless sky state of mind is same as "a high" with drugs. And there are some methods which you can experience that state of mind without using drugs.

Some people (guru or master or leader), therefore, draw up the curriculums how to get this state of mind easily, and let their "students" or "disciples" experience it, and then those "students" people will go like "Wow, this is the almighty power of God! I should make an offering to this master (or guru or leader). I should give him everything I have in order to renounce the world.". And those "students" or "disciples" people lose their whole fortune. Surprisingly, those "students" or "disciples" people even includes intellectuals such as professors or doctors.

But as you can see, those leaders (or gurus or masters) end up scattering poison gas or making a mummy or tricking people into giving some money, and having being arrested after all (e.g. in Japan). It is obvious that to reach the state of nirvana does not mean to be a superman nor a God. People cannot be more than a human being. No more than that and no less than that.

In some religious or spiritual group, there exist "ranks", and guru or master or leader says "My state of nirvana is totally different from yours. In order to reach my rank, you have to practice asceticism very hard. I will teach you how to reach this state of nirvana so give me your whole fortune. You cannot reach this state of nirvana if you own money. And if you stop this practice, you will go to hell", and make huge money out of it.

I understand that everyone has different liking and idea, so it is up to you which way you go. But at least people who have read this Zo-Kiko Tai Chi website, please do not go that way and come back here!
